Following Along at the Olympics

We have had such an outpouring of support while home for the final two weeks before the Olympics. Being home for the Fourth of July (for the first time since 2008), was a special treat, and reminded us of what we are going to represent when we compete in Weymouth. As we near the end of our journey, and we keep our eye on the podium, we want to thank everyone who has been with us. Know that you will be with us in Weymouth, and that for us will make a difference.

For those of you who are interested, there are going to be a number of ways to follow along during the Olympics. There will be no televised coverage of sailing, but if you can get CNBC & MSNBC on your cable or satellite service, you are entitled to get internet streaming of every Olympic event on nbcolympics.com. To sign up, go to this link.

Once you go to that site, you will have to choose your cable provider and sign in with your internet ID and password for that provider. Once signed in, you can select the sport (sailing) and see a full schedule for each day to choose from. The racing will be streamed live and available for viewing for some period of time after that as well. We will race from the 30th through the 8th, with reserve days (to be used only in the event of falling behind schedule) on the 4th and 7th. The 8th is the Medal Race.

We arrived a few days ago, and are settled into the village. We are getting accustomed to going through a metal detector to get back to our housing and to get to our boat. The level of security and media coverage are both greater than anything we’ve seen, but we are comfortable with it.

During the event, Trevor and I are going to focus on sailing. My brother John will do the blogs in order to keep all of our supporters at home up to date. It should be great for everyone to get the “view from shore” here in Weymouth.

That’s it for now from Weymouth!
